The Shikayan token originated from Osaka Mayor Hideyuki Yokoyama's public praise of the name in a tweet. The community subsequently developed it into an experimental token; the project team has not seen any official disclosure and positions it as a derivative project aimed at promoting community culture and branding through an anthropomorphized mascot image, targeting Japanese-speaking communities and those interested in local culture.
